Books by E E Murray
"...By the way, I have a tendency to tell my stories logically and alphabetically from A to Z. In truth, it’s a bit more than a tendency; I actually do it this way. And why do I do this? Because it’s neatly ordered and arranged, of course."
From Emmabella's Birthday Alphabet.
E E Murray's Alphabet series of books recount the trials and triumphs of Emmabella Murray as she makes her way through her middle school years in the north of England. Friendship, family and trying to fit in are key themes in the books which are laced with wit, humour and Emmabella's offbeat observations about the often puzzling world she inhabits. She finds solace in her English Dictionary and can often be found at her local Library reading its ancient copy of Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable. She's a big fan of the alphabet because 'the alphabet is the most neatly ordered and arranged thing in the world and the alphabet makes total sense.'
Each book includes twenty-six chapters - one for each letter of the alphabet - together with an introduction and, occasionally, a postscript.
The publication order of the books is as follows:
Book A - Emmabella's Christmas Alphabet, 2017
Book B - Emmabella's Easter Alphabet, 2018
Book C - Emmabella's Birthday Alphabet, 2019
However, please note that each volume is a stand-alone story; the books can be read in any order.
The series, when completed, will comprise - you've guessed it - twenty-six books. E E Murray is currently hard at work on the fourth book in the series, Emmabella's Sports Day Alphabet.
The Emmabella's Alphabet series of books will appeal to young readers and those who are still young at heart.
You can discover more about the individual books by clicking on the images in the gallery below.
Alphabet images and short extracts, each introducing individual chapters of the books, can be viewed here.
